Week 7: The Client

Our client is Alex Spink – year 11.

Case Study:

  • Alex is a 16 year old female who is currently suffering from sleep deprivation. she believes that it is because of her eating habits. she is currently going to bed at 11 o’clock and waking up at 6 o’clock but experiencing restless sleep in between. in previous years she has struggled with the same issue.
  • Alex needs this change because her lack of sleep is effecting both her physical and mental health, along with her work performance academically. She has also noticed that her lack of sleep is affecting her immune system which in turn creates further problems with the other aspects.
  • short-term goals: to be able to improve the quality of her sleep schedule each night.
  • long-term goals: to be on a consistent and healthy sleeping pattern.
  • Alex’s physical activity also comes into consideration when looking into her sleep. She is currently involved in sports such as touch football and netball which happen after school hours.

Inquiry question- By improving Alex’s eating habits how are we able to improve someones sleep and performance in their everyday lives?

what interventions can we put in place? we can use interventions such as meal plans and activities to track her mood to see how she has improved. Use reliable sleep trackers to track her sleep. try different tactics such as sleeping music / internet sleep therapist / completely quiet room.
